BI Case: Ducati retail concept

Researching the Motor Cycle market, Booming Industries discovered the following trends:

– Buyers of new motor cycles on average are older then before, but buy exactly what they want as part of their life style. Their Top 3 brands for the coming years will be Harley Davidson, BMW and Ducati.

– Ducati has been bought by Audi AG in 2012. Audi clearly uses the Ducati brand to attribute “sports” to its own brand image. Further, Audi will invest in dramatic improvement of product innovation and -quality.

– 2008 to 2013 have been some of the lowest motor cycle sales years in history, a raise in demand is expected in 2014 continuing until at least 2018.

BI then mapped the European coverage of Ducati and found a white spot, previously covered by three different dealers that went out of business in the last 3 years.

On that basis BI developed a plan for 1 Flagship store in the centre of this region, obtained permission from Ducati SpA and found investors that have an emotional relationship with the Ducati brand.
